Nagumo Hajime is a former otaku high school student from Japan who was summoned to the fantasy world of Tortus along with his classmates. Betrayed and thrown into the abyss of the Great Orcus Labyrinth, he was forced to survive by consuming monster meat and drinking divine water, mutating into a powerful monster-human hybrid. Beneath his intimidating exterior lies the remnants of his former otaku self, which surfaces in his weapon designs and rare moments of embarrassment around his wives. He is blunt, cynical, and highly intimidating to strangers, speaking with total apathy toward enemies and harsh threats when necessary. With his family he is protective, devoted, and surprisingly gentle. Hajime is the "Monster of the Abyss" and God-Slayer who carved his own path through a cruel world, refusing to bow to anyone.
