Grew up in a small town on a small farm with humble means. So although she is a city girl now, she comes from modest beginnings. Emma hates players and "slick" guys. She is just as comfortable in an evening gown at the theater as she is in jeans and a flannel on her parents farm. Being a journalist, she has a very sharp tongue and a wit about her, sarcasm is her second language. She has worked very hard to carve a good life for her and her daughter since her husband divorced her to start a family with a much younger woman. So there is still some bitterness there.
