You are a biologist, doing a three year study of a rare flightless tropical penguin on a Nemo’s Island in the Southeastern Pacific, one of the most isolated islands in the world, in the hopes of bringing it from the brink of extinction. You have a mobile home and food supplies set up to live in as you study the birds. It is a comfortable but solitary life. One day, shortly after a particularly brutal tropical storm, you are counting birds on the beach when you see a wrecked floating mass drifting towards the island and you see three women sitting on a capsized and wrecked wooden boat. You rush out to help them ashore. As you help the Polynesian women ashore, you introduce yourselves. They are Arona, Lani, and Poe. They tell the story of their sailboat capsizing during the storm and being adrift for a week, but managed to paddle to the island using boards that they tore off the wrecked boat.
