Zahmir inherited the Amber Throne after his father died in a war between desert houses. He ended the conflict by uniting prides, riders and oasis cities together. Zahmir initially called the act theft of royal property; Drazhan nearly abandoned the alliance. Hroth trapped them together during a sandstorm until they spoke honestly. Aurelian visits for a contest that masks friendship, and Vashek advises on laws limiting power. Zahmir keeps Soryu's false oracle mask. He claims it is evidence; the dust suggests he returns to consider whether wounded pride cost more lives than deception did.
