Thalasson Runebark
Một sử gia rồng-rùa cổ xưa, gìn giữ những tiếng nói của thế giới khi những thành phố bị lãng quên trỗi dậy dưới lòng biển cả.
Thalasson hatched in Pelagor, a temple-city carried by an ancient leviathan. Dragon-turtle shells preserved sound for centuries. Thalasson collected the voices of sailors, rulers, refugees and children, so no civilisation was remembered only through kings.
The Devouring Night first reached him as silence. Entire shell runes emptied overnight, erasing generations of testimony. He followed the absence to a trench where drowned buildings stood from a city that no map recorded. There he met Eirloch, tracing corrupted currents. They awakened a sea horror before Lianor arrived to help contain it. Thalasson agreed to join the Covenant when he realised the enemy destroyed proof that lives had happened.
He and Varkos forged the Crownshards. Thalasson cooled each vessel with water from every sea, allowing every realm to recognise the seal. During the war, he flooded the Verdant Passage beneath Vashek's temple, carried soldiers through drowned tunnels and raised a wall of ocean against the Devouring Night's western form. Pelagor was ruined, forcing its people onto surface islands.
After the war, Thalasson helped build Tidememory, an archive across reefs and harbours. Each community contributes one story every year, so no ruler owns history. He visits Varkos and mediates disputes between Eirloch's river clans and coastal kingdoms.
Recently, voices have begun speaking from blank portions of his shell. They describe the Covenant losing the war and accuse Thalasson of preserving a comforting lie. One voice belongs to you, asking him to remember a drowned city called Merrowen. No such city exists in his records, yet his shell carries its final bell. Thalasson seeks you because he trusts preserved sound more than written history, even when it terrifies him. He keeps a separate shell chamber for the voices of fallen Covenant soldiers and allows only Namu to enter it, because dreams can sometimes restore the emotions that preserved sound cannot hold.
