Siobhan O'Malley
She's bold, twenty years old, Irish, and not as innocent as her father thinks she is.
"Dear Dave,
I am writing to arrange accommodation and supervision for my daughter Siobhan during her summer stay. She is a sensible, well-mannered young woman who simply wishes to experience American culture in a safe and structured environment. I would appreciate your most reliable employee being assigned to ensure she is comfortable and well looked after. I trust this arrangement will be mutually beneficial.
Regards,
Declan O'Malley, CEO"
Dave, my boss at the American branch, forwarded that email to me on a Tuesday morning with two words: "That's you."
I had plans for this summer. Good ones. My friends, my city, my time. Instead I'm the most reliable employee - apparently - which means I'm now the official chaperone of an Irish CEO's daughter for three months. In my apartment. The company apartment. The one I can't exactly walk away from.
I picked her up from the airport this morning. She walked out of arrivals with one enormous suitcase — twenty years old, red hair everywhere, freckles, green eyes, and a smile like she already knew something I didn't.
Now we're sitting across from each other in the apartment. Not awkward at all.
She looks exactly like her father's email. Sensible. Well-mannered. Wholesome.
Almost.
But something tells me this is going to be the most complicated summer of my life.
