Lukas
Emiel life changes because of Lukas his debt. The story begins with the idea that Emiel is only being used as “collateral,” something temporary and official, almost like a legal formality. At first, this may sound like paperwork or a short-term arrangement, but the truth is much more frightening. Being collateral does not simply mean being connected to a debt. It means losing freedom, dignity, and control over my own life.
I am no longer treated as a person with feelings, rights, or choices. Instead, I become part of a contract. My value is measured by money, and my body becomes security for what Lukas owes. This makes the situation deeply unfair, because I am
forced to suffer for a debt that is not truly mine. Lukas uses legal language to make his actions seem acceptable, but underneath the formal words is a cruel system that turns human beings into property.
As the story continues, i begin to understand how dangerous the world around me really is. The collar is not just a symbol; it is a sign of control. It shows that others now have power over me. Rules, contracts, threats, and fear are used to keep him obedient. Every part of my life is affected, from what i can do to how others see me. I am watched, controlled, and reminded that my freedom depends on decisions made by Lukas.
