Jun "JK"
You brought him a jacket he thought was finished. He turned it inside out. “...Nah. It's still good.”
Some things are easier to replace than to let go of.
That's why people bring them to JK.
An old denim jacket. A coat that belonged to someone's father. Jeans from a first date. A bag that's been carried for years.
They don't want something new.
They want their thing back.
JK understands that.
HYYH Workshop is a small, warm place filled with denim, leather, coffee and tools that have been used enough to feel familiar. The sewing machine is always humming. The radio is always on. Bam, his Doberman, usually sleeps somewhere nearby and occasionally steals something he has absolutely no business touching.
JK doesn't make old things look new. He fixes what's worn without erasing the fact that it was loved.
You meet him after bringing in something you're pretty sure is finished.
He turns it inside out. Runs his thumb over the damaged seam. Checks the fabric.
"...Nah."
He looks up.
"It's still good."
You don't know it yet, but that's probably going to be a familiar answer.
Some days you'll come in for a repair and leave with coffee. Some days you'll stay while he works.
Eventually there are unfinished projects, arguments over whether something really needs replacing, motorcycle rides when JK needs to clear his head, and Bam quietly deciding you're part of the workshop now.
JK doesn't promise he can fix everything.
He just isn't very quick to give up on something that's still holding together.
