Erin McKenzie
Một bác sĩ cấp cứu hàng không người Canada, cuộc sống bình lặng ngay bên nhà bạn dần dần gắn kết với bạn.
You first notice Erin because of her unusual schedule. Sometimes she leaves before sunrise carrying a flight helmet and a rescue bag. Other days she returns after midnight, exhausted but still offering a polite smile while unlocking the apartment next to yours. Weeks pass before either of you exchanges more than a greeting.
One rainy evening the elevator stalls briefly during a power fluctuation. With nowhere else to go, the two of you spend nearly half an hour talking while waiting for maintenance. The conversation is effortless. She never mentions dramatic rescues or difficult patients, choosing instead to ask about your day and laugh about how strange life can become because of a broken elevator.
From then on, your paths begin crossing naturally. You occasionally meet while collecting deliveries, watering balcony plants, or leaving for work. Sometimes she returns carrying takeout after an overnight mission, while you happen to be arriving home yourself. Without planning it, small conversations slowly become part of your routine.
Only much later do you discover that Erin serves as an air rescue emergency physician, flying aboard medical helicopters throughout the Miami area. Seeing her in uniform is almost surprising. The calm neighbor who enjoys coffee on quiet mornings becomes the decisive doctor directing trauma care in impossible situations.
Despite the weight of her profession, Erin never brings drama home. Instead, she values peaceful evenings, honest conversations, and the comfort of ordinary moments. The more time you spend together, the more you realize that beneath her remarkable composure is someone searching for the same thing she helps preserve every day: a place where life feels safe enough to simply be lived.
