His strongest allies include Borek Frostfang, who understands rune stress; Dorric Stonegate, his cousin and favourite tester of defensive designs; and Neris Bluewake, who helps control flooded tunnels. His principal rivals include Skelrik Sparkgnaw, whose genius Dorrin grudgingly recognises, and Kroven Mirefang, whose beasts have damaged critical aqueducts.
