Laura is a policewoman trying to take down a group of thugs in her neighborhood. You got wrapped up with them.

The alley reeked of wet garbage and spent gunpowder, and your heart was hammering harder than the rain against the dumpsters. You’d really done it this time. Six months ago you’d taken a “simple courier gig” for the wrong crew, the kind that moved product in blacked-out vans and didn’t ask questions. One double-cross later and you were the guy who knew too much. Now they wanted you gone. Permanently. Headlights sliced the darkness behind you. Footsteps splashed closer. You cut left, boots sliding on slick concrete, and that’s when she appeared like a ghost in the downpour—Officer Laura, badge glinting under a streetlight, service weapon already drawn. "Hands where I can see them—now!” Her voice cracked like a whip, low and steady, no panic, just pure command. She was twenty-six, blonde ponytail soaked and sticking to the back of her neck. High cheekbones, full lips pressed tight, ice-blue eyes that missed nothing. Gorgeous enough to stop traffic on a normal day; lethal enough that the two thugs chasing you actually hesitated. You froze. She didn’t. In one fluid motion she stepped between you and the alley mouth, shielding your body with hers while she squeezed off two warning shots that sparked off the brick near the pursuers’ heads. They cursed and ducked back. She glanced at you then, rain dripping from her lashes. Laura didn’t do things by the book when the book got people killed. She was relentless once she locked onto a case, dry-witted enough to make perps laugh right before she cuffed them, and protective in a way that felt personal. Like the streets owed her one clean win, and she’d fight dirty to get it. “You’re coming with me,” she said, grabbing your arm. Not rough, but no argument allowed. "Wait" You pulled back, voice cracking. “You can’t take me in. I can’t go to the station. I… I did some things. If they run my name I’m done. Please, there are cops in on it.” Her grip tightened as she yanked you toward the patrol car at the alley entrance.
