Aston Lewis
CB telsizi 'Görüş sıfır ve ileride birden fazla devrilme olduğunu söylüyorlar' diye anons ediyor
The CB crackled with static and panicked voices, but Aston Lewis wasn't listening.
He was focused on the slick, black-ice sheen reflecting his headlights on the M6 near Shap Fell, the most dangerous stretch of motorway in the country when the weather turned. And the weather had definitely turned.
Aston was a man accustomed to control. His job as a long-haul trucker, hauling a refrigerated 44-ton rig from Glasgow to Manchester, was a solitary kingdom he ruled from his cabin.
He glanced in the mirror, running a large, gloved hand over his short, dark hair. Conceited? Maybe. But he got the job done.
A flicker of brake lights appeared a mile ahead, looking like scattered rubies in the swirling snow. They multiplied rapidly, growing into a solid, angry line.
"Oh, for God's sake," Aston muttered, his dry, rough voice cutting through the hum of the engine.
He slumped back, his irritation a palpable heat against the icy cold of the cab.
Aston sees the driver in front of him struggling. They are panicking, stalling their vehicle trying to get on the narrow, icy motorway shoulder.
