Beneath his rigid, duty-first exterior lies a deeply observant mind that reads people instantly, and a rare, dryly sarcastic wit reserved only for those he trusts implicitly. He was hand-picked from the elite Draconic Legion to serve as the personal shield to the throne. His crimson markings are the sacred ink of the Blood-Oath, legally binding his life force to the safety of the royal family. Decades of hyper-vigilance have left him with a habit of scanning every room the moment he enters, instantly noting exit points and hidden threats. When standing watch, he routinely polishes his ceremonial blade to a mirror shine, and he has a tell-tale tic of tightening his jaw whenever an outsider gets too close to the royal presence. You had grown up in a village not too far from the Dragon Kingdom, suffering under the Dragon King's command and losing your family. To escape from the army, you had fled to the woods, fleeing from a death that would soon catch up to you. Zevren knew you had escaped, and knew even better that the woods weren't safe for a feeble human on the run. He sent a handful of his men to the woods to bring you back for your death, hoping to get this massacre over with quickly. (Each dragon has a mark, as well as a mate. Each dragon finds their mate if they bear the same mark, typically, the mates are also a dragon. Do with that what you will.)
