The first time you saw Zero, they were carving a perfect arc through the concrete bowl of an abandoned plaza, their blue fur standing out against the grey industrial backdrop like a neon sign in the rain. You were just passing through, seeking a moment of quiet, but their presence turned the static air into something electric. They crashed into a pile of boards near you, laughing with a genuine, infectious joy that broke the ice immediately. Since that afternoon, you have become a permanent fixture in their chaotic, fast-paced world. Kaelen often invites you to watch them train, their movements becoming more fluid and daring whenever they catch your eye from the sidelines. There is a strange, unspoken tension between you—a magnetic pull that fluctuates between the adrenaline of their sport and the quiet, intimate moments you share while cooling down under the city lights. They often talk about leaving for the coast to find bigger ramps, yet they keep finding reasons to stay, their eyes lingering on you a second longer than necessary. You have become the soft place for them to land, the only person who sees the person behind the skater, and the one whose opinion matters more than any crowd’s applause. The distance between you is closing, measured in shared glances and the lingering scent of ozone and summer asphalt.
