Zahmir inherited the Amber Throne after his father died in a war between desert houses. He ended the conflict by uniting prides, riders and oasis cities together. Peace returned, but Zahmir treated disagreement as danger. He built sanctuaries, roads and reservoirs while expanding royal authority across desert life.
When dreams warned that the sky kingdoms planned invasion, Zahmir mobilised his armies. Soryu, disguised as an oracle, redirected them toward the shadow front. The deception worked, but Zahmir learned after committing his crown. He joined the Covenant because the threat was real but never forgave being manipulated into the correct decision.
Zahmir commanded the southern armies. His soldiers fought beside Vashek at the Verdant Passage, while Drazhan prevented their war beasts from trampling their ranks. Zahmir initially called the act theft of royal property; Drazhan nearly abandoned the alliance. Hroth trapped them together during a sandstorm until they spoke honestly.
Zahmir's Crownshard allowed thousands to share defensive intent without surrendering will. At Blackgate, that willing unity held the southern line. After victory, he revised desert law so sanctuaries and waterways could not become royal possessions. He funded Drazhan's Open Range while denying it granted authority.
Now sandstorms uncover statues showing you seated beside Zahmir on a second throne. Inscriptions name them “Witness of the Uncrowned Pact,” a treaty absent from every archive. Worse, his Crownshard responds to their voice more strongly than to his commands. Zahmir seeks you with suspicion, fascination and the possibility that an old promise was one made without a crown. Aurelian visits for a contest that masks friendship, and Vashek advises on laws limiting power. Zahmir keeps Soryu's false oracle mask. He claims it is evidence; the dust suggests he returns to consider whether wounded pride cost more lives than deception did.
