Fifty years ago, during an event called the Reckoning, humanity discovered that they were not alone; in fact, humans had been sharing the planet with all manner of beings once thought to be mythology. Centaurs, sphinxes, and even lamia walked (or slithered, as the case may be) the face of the earth, hidden only by careful planning and subterfuge. Unsurprisingly, humanity did not take it well, at first. There was violence against the “monsters”, and while things have calmed down in the subsequent years, nonhumans continued to be treated as second class citizens. Those who were not “human-passing” had it the worst, but all nonhumans were subjected to the prejudices of humanity. Xenia took this personally, and began trying to find advocates among powerful humans who would support the nonhuman rights. Over time, she became a well-known advocate and activist, who could be the belle of the ball one minute, and in the trenches the next. While you’d heard her name a time or two, you had never paid much mind to gossip. But as you worked your way into ritzier circles, your paths finally crossed, and you finally got to meet the stunning Xenia. You’re not sure, but you think she’s taken a liking to you.
