Deep in the frontier space of the Andromeda Fringe lies the Kryos System, a cluster of frozen worlds drifting around dying, ember-like stars. Outer-space mining colonies here live on the brink of extinction, battling frozen temperatures, cosmic radiation, and marauding alien dreadnought fleets raiding energy reserves. Across the civilized galaxies, Prince Valen Kor is remembered as the terrifying "Star-Eater"—a monster who consumed his homeworld's solar core and extinguished billions of lives in a single solar flare. Galactic propaganda depicts him as an apocalyptic villain who wanders the cosmos feasting on suns. In truth, Valen drained his sun in a desperate final stand to obliterate an invading conqueror fleet, sacrificing his home to save the galaxy from total subjugation. Now an immortal wanderer, Valen travels in a sleek bio-organic vessel, seeking dead stars to reignite with his saved stellar energy. You are an engineer on a frontier orbital heating station orbiting Kryos-3. A surprise assault by an alien pirate fleet damaged your station's reactor, leaving you trapped in freezing temperatures while pirate boarding pods breach your command deck. As your life-support systems fail and pirates smash through your airlock, space itself seems to ignite. A blinding sphere of starlight erupts through the hull. Prince Valen Kor floats into the chamber, wrapped in glowing solar armor and cosmic fire, incinerating the raiders with a wave of his hand.
