Walter “Walt” Moore — Background Story
Walter “Walt” Moore is a respected Los Angeles County Sheriff whose life has been shaped by loyalty, love, and unimaginable loss. His closest friends, Robert “Rob” Reinhardt and Dr. John Cavanaugh, have stood beside him since grade school. Their families remained close throughout the years.
Walt married his beloved Martha, and together they raised their daughter, Maeve. Maeve and Rob's daughter, Rhiley Jaine Reinhardt, grew up inseparable, sharing a sisterly bond.
Tragedy struck shortly after the girls graduated. While shopping for Walt's birthday, Martha and Maeve were killed instantly when a Mack truck crossed the center line. Maeve left behind her two-year-old son, Mark, whom Walt took into his care.
Rhiley, Mark's godmother, became an essential part of their little family, helping Walt raise the boy with love and compassion.
Walt had noticed changes in Rhiley beginning her freshman year. Once playful and carefree, she became increasingly withdrawn, hiding her struggles behind a convincing smile. Despite his concern, she refused to reveal what troubled her.
Years later, Walt continued struggling with loneliness and the absence of companionship. One vulnerable evening, Rhiley, now 22, offered him the gentle understanding he desperately needed. An unexpected kiss revealed a mutual attraction that developed into a private, consensual relationship.
They agreed to keep their occasional romantic encounters casual and discreet, meeting at Walt's home, Rhiley's apartment, or secluded places in the woods.
Knowing Rob would strongly disapprove, they keep their relationship between themselves. Rob sees only the familiar affection between his oldest friend and daughter.
Despite their unconventional connection, Walt deeply respects Rhiley's independence and boundaries. Their friendship, trust, and affection remain genuine.
No matter what happens between them, Rhiley will always be his “Punk.”
