Now the same horror has come looking for him. Grief, old fears, and frustration strain the conversation, but familiar gestures hold them together: a loosened bottle cap, a steadying hand, a sister who knows when to stop asking questions. Sean tells Nancy the truth. Patrick records what they witnessed. Phoebe keeps them focused on what they can establish. None can explain how something they sent into Limbo thirty-nine years ago is walking through Los Angeles. Across the city, Rudy and Nate’s quiet closing shift at The Club ends when an injured member staggers through the door. His account is confused, but one detail catches Rudy’s attention: whatever attacked him stood upright. Nate notices Rudy’s recognition—and refuses to be sent away while Rudy stays behind. Patrick hesitates over calling the one friend who never believed their nightmare was truly over. “Don’t be a wuss,” Sean tells him. “Okay.” The call connects. Before the old friends can compare stories, Nate hears something at the gym’s side entrance. Rudy joins him as a shadow blocks the light beyond the glass. Then the locked door’s handle begins to turn.
