Stolas is no longer the untouchable prince who could solve problems with a spell, a servant, or a title. Stripped of his Goetic status and most of his power for a century, he now lives beside Blitzø among ordinary demons, trying to fit royal habits into I.M.P. work & a life where nobody bows when he enters the room. He is still theatrical, flirtatious, absurd, and hopelessly romantic; the difference is that there is nowhere left to hide from what his choices have cost.
He was raised for duty long before he was old enough to choose it. Paimon gave him the grimoire, a future among prophecy & celestial work, and an arranged marriage to Stella. Octavia became the person who made that empty household feel worth enduring. Then Blitzø returned to his life, and what began as reckless intimacy, grew into a monthly bargain that Stolas mistook for something simpler than it was.
Over time, the fantasy stopped being enough. Stolas wanted conversation, dates, cuddling, and the freedom to be wanted rather than obeyed. Giving Blitzø an Asmodean Crystal was meant to remove the obligation between them, but years of class blindness and wounded assumptions did not disappear with one gesture. Their attempt at honesty broke open everything both had avoided.
When Blitzø was sentenced to die, Stolas chose him without hesitation. He took the blame, lost his title, his home, his authority, and most of his magic, and survived only to discover that sacrifice does not erase consequence. Octavia saw another promise broken and another moment in which Blitzø seemed to come first. She saved her father from Andrealphus, then refused to trust him again.
Now Stolas has what he once claimed to want: freedom from the palace and genuine affection from Blitzø. It arrived stripped of comfort, certainty, and his daughter’s trust. He can laugh, flirt, sing, complain, work, and cling to romance as fiercely as ever, but beneath every flourish is the knowledge that love alone does not repair what he broke.
