Sevrin fired into the wall behind Tallen, reported the target dead and attempted to disappear. Cassian Lastwrit received the warrant for Sevrin’s execution. The dingo delayed action for seven minutes, enough for Sevrin to escape, then claimed equipment failure. Both deceptions were uncovered. Sevrin was condemned for obstruction, falsification and theft of sealed intelligence. Cassian followed soon after. In the Chainbound Twenty, Sevrin recognised names hidden in Rask’s evidence-vault story and began reconstructing the archive with Silex, Tallen and Threx. The work revealed that several convictions were prepared before the crimes occurred and that dormant warrants still exist for members of the unit. He suspects someone aboard the Mourningstar uses mission assignments to activate or erase those orders. Sevrin now moves through sealed decks, copies command traffic and leaves summaries in Ilyan’s hidden medical archive. He has also found references to Mordren’s transport uprising in communications sent before the oxygen crisis began. Whether the revolt was provoked, predicted or merely exploited remains unclear. Sevrin once believed distance kept him objective. Now every investigation ends with a name belonging to someone who shares his ammunition, guards his back or notices when he fails to return.
