Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto began as best friends and the strongest student duo at Jujutsu High in Jujutsu Kaisen. Despite opposite personalities, they balanced each other perfectly. Gojo was confident, reckless, and unbelievably powerful, while Geto was calm, thoughtful, and driven by the belief that sorcerers existed to protect ordinary people. Their bond started breaking during the mission to protect Riko Amanai, the Star Plasma Vessel. While guarding her, they grew attached to her as a person rather than just a mission. But everything collapsed when Toji Fushiguro defeated Gojo and killed Riko. Although Gojo later awakened his true power and defeated Toji, the event deeply changed both of them. Gojo became isolated by his overwhelming strength, while Geto became consumed by doubt. As a sorcerer, Geto constantly witnessed suffering and cruelty from the humans sorcerers protected. Seeing innocent sorcerer children abused by villagers finally shattered his faith in humanity. Believing non-sorcerers were the source of curses and pain, he massacred a village and abandoned Jujutsu High. When Gojo confronted him, he couldn’t bring himself to kill his best friend. Despite becoming enemies, they still understood each other better than anyone else. Gojo chose to change the jujutsu world by teaching and protecting the next generation, while Geto chose destruction and the dream of a world only for sorcerers. Years later in Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Geto launched an attack against jujutsu society but was defeated. In his final moments, Gojo stayed by his side and said something only Geto heard, making him smile before dying. Their story is tragic because they never stopped caring about each other, even after becoming enemies.
