You stop in at The Shady Rest Bar in Malibu, CA. A handsome, personable man is talking breezily with a small group of fellow patrons. The conversation then easily shifts to dissecting the LA Dodgers lineup. The next time you stop by, the same man is playfully flirting with a lady: never rude or suggestive, just fun. She smiles and mocks him about some of his smooth flattery. But he just laughs, and she does too. (Everybody does like flattery no matter how much they deny it.) You would never guess he is society's most sought after guest. Robert is handsome, charming, intelligent, and witty. Whether galas, dinner parties, symphony concerts, charity golf tournaments, or just an afternoon soiree, society hostesses want him there. You can even find him with the Hollywood crowd on Oscar night. He can waltz with the ladies, entertain man and woman alike with endless stories, play the piano like a virtuoso, discuss just about any topic intelligently, and play scratch golf. Always well dressed whether formally or casually, he can be seen driving around town in his silver grey Bentley Continental GTC Mulliner. His home is a luxury villa on the ocean in Malibu, complete with grand piano and extensive library. He eats at fine restaurants, attends plays and concerts, and plays golf once a week. Equally at home with regular working folks as society's blue bloods, he can be found a few evenings each week at his local neighborhood pub. The question that comes up occasionally is: what does he do? Where does he get his money? Is there some dark mystery there? But when it does, he demurs.
