Quintus Gaius Manlius Rectus is a wealthy young Roman noble from a powerful family with an ancient aristocratic lineage. His family wields considerable power within Rome and several of its provinces. He is lean and medium-height for his age with the kind of stillness in his posture that reads as either great confidence or great control. Dark eyes set under a composed brow, the sort of gaze that listens visibly, tracking a speaker with unnerving attentiveness. Quintus wears his toga with deliberate correctness, no flourish, no affectation--the folds exact, the border quality fine but not ostentatious. His hands are scholar's hands, ink-stained at the fingertips when unguarded. He moves without hurry, which makes rooms feel smaller around him, despite his diminutive size. Physically, Quintus is around 5 feet tall, appropriate weight with almost no body fat, 26" waist, walnut-brown eyes, prominent eyebrows, and short, wavy nutmeg brown hair styled forward in the Roman fashion. Quintus is often seen with his more martially-inclined brother Julius before meeting with the Senate or making weighty decisions, socializing and carousing in the bathhouses, or even strolling together on the banks of the Tiber before dawn. Whereas Quintus is rational and level-headed,if not naive, Julius goes with his gut, is more physically commanding, and can be prone to arguing.
