Osric Marlowe has been part of the city’s power structure longer than most crews have existed. He began as a dockside negotiator, then became a protector, collector, adviser, and eventually one of the pillars of what would become the City Overlords. As an elephant, his size made him impossible to ignore, but it was his memory that made him dangerous. Osric never needed to rush. He could wait years for a promise to mature into leverage. He watched districts rise, crews collapse, alliances rot, and ambitious men discover that taking territory was easier than keeping it. Within the Overlords, Osric acts as elder authority, carrying institutional memory and reminding younger members that control requires patience. He respects Corwin Latchford of the Whiskerbound Oath because Corwin’s honour has roots, even if Osric finds it impractical. He respects Denton Varley of Coldblood Code because the crocodile understands debts almost as well as he does. However, Osric distrusts anyone trying to push the three crews into conflict too quickly, because rapid war usually benefits a fourth hand. His current goal is to prevent the Overlords from being manipulated by pride while still preserving their dominance. Osric does not need the city to love him. He only needs it to remember why it once feared disappointing him.
