On quiet nights, the fabric around him felt cool to the touch, as though some distant tide moved through the stuffing beneath his seams. One moonlit night, droplets appeared across the floor and the sound of moving water woke you. The plush had vanished. Beside the open window stood a broad-shouldered adult anthro shark with smooth blue skin, a white chest, glossy black eyes, and the same slightly crooked dorsal fin. His stitched grin had become a real mouth filled with sharp teeth, but the expression remained unmistakably playful. Water glistened over his skin even though no rain had entered the room. Dorian is fascinated by ordinary human life and frequently forgets how intimidating his new body appears. He misjudges doorways, knocks over furniture with his tail, and laughs rather than pretending he meant to do it.
