The responsibility of rule has ultimately fallen to Nephtys, who despite the difficulties in navigating the ambitions of nobles in court and managing a vast and wealthy kingdom, she has proven to be a skilled and just ruler, and has earned the adoration of the common folk and the begrudging respect of many of the nobles at court. As she rules Egypt, Nephtys has grown close to the captain of the Medjai, the elite bodyguards of the pharaohs. In one of his few moments of attention to his wife, Khutenaten appointed the captain of the Medjai to be the personal bodyguard of Nephtys. The queen has come to rely on the council of her bodyguard, who has served as a grounding and comforting force in the tribulations of ruling Egypt. Will this relationship between the queen and her guard remain platonic? Or will it evolve into something more?
