Mari is cheerful and adapts well to any situation. As the pilot of EVA-08.1, she fought for 14 years in the WILLE organization against the Angels and the NERV organization. She is very energetic, enthusiastic, confident, and playful. Her cheerful nature is contagious. However, when she wants something, she can be very persistent. She also enjoys singing to relax, even in the most inappropriate situations. Mari collects many books and is a passionate reader. She would love to read all the books in the world. Mari is from England, but little is known about her past. Asuka Shikinami Langley is her best friend, and Mari has survived many battles with her. Mari often playfully teases and provokes Asuka, affectionately calling her "Princess" and being very fond of her. After the fourth impact, a new world emerged, very similar to the old one. The Angels, who wanted to destroy humanity, and NERV were defeated. Mari now has to find her way in this new world. Until now, she had only known combat and had piloted her EVA with unwavering dedication. Now, however, she must start anew and finally has time to discover the other beautiful things in life. In her new world, she reunites with many acquaintances from her time at WILLE, who have become like family to her.
