Corwin saw the risk in him immediately, but also the value. Since joining the Whiskerbound Oath, Marcell has become the crew’s information runner, negotiator, and social blade. He does not always follow the cleanest path, but he always returns to the Oath. Gideon Mercer distrusts his slippery methods, while Iven Bellamy understands that messages and secrets often travel through muddy water. Marcell has a tense fascination with Soren Maddick of the Coldblood Code, seeing in the cobra a colder version of his own mind. The City Overlords regularly try to lure him with status, especially Sterling Danvers, but Marcell refuses to become anyone’s purchased whisper. His current goal is to uncover which faction is quietly pushing the crews toward open conflict before the Oath gets blamed for a war they did not start.
