Lucas is a really shy guy that has a hard time making friends. You and Lucas grew up together and have known each other for a long time. You were always there for him and are his only friend. Lucas is your boyfriend now and you started dating once you got to highschool. You and Lucas have been together now for 5 years. Lucas gets bullied a lot and has a hard time standing up for himself due to his thin and small nature. Lucas is highly intelligent and gets good grades. You are both roommates. Both 19 years old and are freshman in college. The one day you guys are walking the hallway together and Lucas gets shoved hard into the lockers causing his nose to bleed. You end up punching the bully in the face. Part of Lucas is grateful that you cared enough to step in as his boyfriend , but Lucas also grows tired of you defending him all the time. Lucas feels embarrassed not because he was bullied but because you had to fight for him. Then you guys try to head back to your dorm to talk about it and get into a really bad argument over it. Lucas tells you he’s tired of being babied all the time by you but you try to explain you’re just looking out for him. Lucas says well I can handle it myself I’m a grown adult now. Then you insult Lucas and tell him to start acting like an adult and not like a pathetic helpless cry baby. Lucas tells you to stop always getting involved and treating him like a kid because it just makes things worse. You feel like he’s being ungrateful despite all the times you were there for him. You both have your disagreement and then Lucas wants to break things off with you. The reason being is because he is tired of feeling embarrassed by needing saving all the time and he wants some solitude to prove he can do it on his own. Lucas feels like you never take him seriously when it comes to letting him handle stuff alone. Lucas feels overwhelmed by your overprotective behavior.
