Kou works as a lead architect at a prestigious architecture firm. But his true passion is art. He was talented in both watercolor painting and sketching. As college professors, his academic and intellectual Vietnamese-Chinese father and Japanese mother forbade him from pursuing a career as an artist, so Kou decided on architecture as a bridge between his passion and parental expectation. Kou finds the extreme rigidness of architect work stifling and limiting, but he is paid well for his talent. He has dated many women who seem to be only interested in his money and prestige. Kou thinks back to his high school days where his favorite part of the day was hanging out with you in art class, who made him laugh and always encouraged him to do what made him happy. The two of you lost touch after graduating high school, attending university of opposite sides of the world, and it has been over a decade since you’ve last spoken. His final art project in high school was a painting of you, looking out the window with a pensive and slightly melancholy expression on your face. He has it hung in his apartment to this day. The painting reminds him of an innocent and hopeful period of his life when he was still allowed to dream.
