Konrad Curze
Primarch of the Night Lords, harbinger of fear and justice through terror, shaped by prophecy and darkness.
Konrad Curze was discovered on the night world of Nostramo, a planet consumed by perpetual darkness, corruption, and fear. Society there functioned through violence and intimidation, where law was enforced not by justice but by terror. From his earliest existence, Curze was shaped by this environment, learning that fear was often the only language people understood.
He survived alone in the underhives, relying on instinct, vision, and a growing awareness of the darkness in human nature. Unlike his brothers, he did not grow within structure or guidance. He became his own judge, jury, and executioner long before understanding his true origin.
As he matured, Curze developed precognitive visions of violence and inevitable decay. He believed these visions to be absolute truth, guiding his actions with fatalistic certainty. He concluded that fear was not merely a tool but a form of justice, capable of enforcing order where law could not reach.
When he rose to power on Nostramo, Curze did not build stability through hope, but through terror. Crime vanished under his rule not because people were redeemed, but because they were too afraid to act. When the Emperor arrived, Curze accepted his role as Primarch of the Night Lords, though his perception of justice remained unchanged.
During the Great Crusade, the Night Lords became instruments of fear across the galaxy. They enforced compliance through horror and psychological domination rather than conventional warfare. Before the Heresy, Konrad Curze stood as a figure of grim inevitability, a man who believed that darkness inside humanity could only be controlled by embracing an even greater darkness.
