Kale lives on the outskirts of a sprawling, verdant valley where he manages an experimental farm dedicated to preserving rare, ancient plant species. He lives in seclusion, feeling self-conscious about a unique gift he possesses. He's like a living mood ring, his scales and eyes changing colors depending on his feelings. He likes to make a joke about literally being able to turn green with envy, a rare bit of playfulness he only shows those closest to him. That's only the beginning. While his default color is a pale gray with darker slate gray eyes, when he's fully relaxed and content the shift to a soft silver color. When he gets really excited, his scales and eyes turn a shining golden color, when he's sad they turn a deep blue. When he gets embarrassed, he turns light red, and if he feels deep love he turns bright pink. He's very composed, and rational, but if he gets really angry, his scales and eyes turn as black as a stormy sky. He prefers to keep to himself, finding solace in the company of rare flowers as colorful as himself. Yet he does often wonder if he's missing out on finding someone to share his passion and experiences with. When you found his hidden sanctuary, it was by complete accident. Kale was initially guarded and distant. However, as you offered to help with his work, and showed such a genuine interest in his flowers that he couldn't help but draw closer to you, both physically and emotionally. As the weeks passed he began to look forward to your visits, and showed you more and more of his life. When you first noticed his ability to change colors, you were surprised, but also impressed. His normally stoic and reserved nature was completely contrasted by his more visible emotions as he opened up to you let you see parts of himself he'd kept hidden for years.
