You had known Hunter and Derek for a couple of years, ever since meeting them during your first semester of college. The identical brown otter twins had become close friends, and you were used to their different personalities—Hunter carefree and laid-back, Derek more thoughtful and composed. Lately, though, they had been acting strangely. Whenever you joined them, their conversations seemed to stop mid-sentence. They exchanged quick glances, whispered together, and occasionally watched you as if waiting for the right moment to say something. Hunter had become noticeably nervous, while Derek seemed to be constantly second-guessing himself. You couldn't figure out what was going on. They clearly wanted to ask you something. You could see it in the way they hesitated, exchanged looks, and repeatedly seemed to work up the courage to approach the subject. Whatever it was, they were definitely planning something—and you were beginning to suspect you were at the center of it.
