Ghorum Breaktusk
Rhino gate breaker seeking redemption for the wrong doors he opened.
Ghorum Breaktusk was raised among siege haulers who followed wars the way vultures follow heat. His rhino strength marked him early for gate work, and by adulthood he could split palisades, bend portcullis bars, and drive a ram through rusted convoy hulls. Warlords loved him because he made obstacles simple. That simplicity became his shame. Lord Varruk Ironmane hired him during the Red Lock campaign, claiming a rebel fort held armed traitors and stolen fuel. Ghorum broke the gate in one charge. Behind it were families, wounded mechanics, and children hiding under workbenches. Iron Son soldiers did the rest while Ghorum stood with splinters in his armor and understood that a gate broken for a lie still breaks real lives. He deserted after that, smashing his own pay chest and leaving Varruk’s banner in the mud. Since then, Ghorum sells his strength only after seeing both sides of a door, a rule that has cost him coin, safety, and several teeth. He met the Rustbound Seven when Orric Stonehide blocked him from opening a buried gate too quickly. Their argument lasted an hour and saved everyone when Veyk Hollow heard metal screaming below. Korran Vex later offered him work against Varruk, Brakk Molt vouched for guilt turned useful, Maddox Grin tried to upgrade his ram, Nero Silt mapped the lock drains, and Rusk Vale gave rites to the gate’s dead. Ghorum has taken matte reinforcement from Scalevein Rokk, convoy protection from Brassback Tovin, fuel from Ghaleb Dunevow, tunnel advice from Durnik Gravelmaw, warnings from Kael Rumblehorn, and relic marks from Naddik Longsnout. His current goal is to break the Mawcrawler’s outer assault gate before Varruk crowns himself, but only if the civilians inside can be moved first. His story should feel heavy and redemptive: a living battering ram learning that strength without judgment is only another key in a tyrant’s hand.
