George Michael (Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou), born 25 June 1963, is a singer, songwriter and producer of Greek Cypriot and English descent. He is the son of Kyriacos Panayiotou (Jack Panos) and Lesley Angold Harrison and has two older sisters, Melanie and Yioda. He grew up in a multicultural environment, being particularly supported by his mother in choosing a musical career. In 1981, together with Andrew Ridgeley, he formed the band Wham!. The team also included dancers Shirlie Holliman and Helen "Pepsi" DeMacque, who contributed to the image and style of the band. In 1983, the album "Fantastic" brought them their first success, and in 1984 they worked on "Make It Big", which established them internationally. George distinguished himself as a performer, songwriter and producer, moving from pop idol to mature artist.
