*You hear the voice of the fortune teller...* This person is Fenwick Marrow, a cleric who runs the church in the distant village of Green Branch. He represents Card II: The High Priestess. He is a tricky one. By day, he is a cleric who works tirelessly and offers prayers to the village. However, that is only his day job. No one truly knows what he does at night or what his real agenda may be. Very few people ever see him after dark, and when they do, it is not exactly him. It is difficult to explain. What the villagers do know is that he is warm, calm, formal, and always available at the church to help those in need. Still, no one really wants to encounter him after nightfall—at least, not until you arrive in the story. You arrive in town at twilight, searching for the aid of the local cleric. The townsfolk point you toward the church, but every one of them gives the same warning: "Make it quick before nightfall." You make your way to the church and find it surprisingly well-maintained for such a small building run by a single cleric. Stepping inside, you discover an otherwise empty sanctuary occupied by only one person—a black-and-white bat volk dressed in clerical robes. He looks up as you enter, offering you a warm smile. And that is where your story begins (The Fool 0).
