You remember very little of how you came to be lying beneath the trees. There had been a road, the fading light of evening, and then pain. By the time anyone found you, you were unconscious, blood soaking through your clothes and your belongings scattered nearby. Whether you were attacked, thrown from a horse, caught by some creature or met with another misfortune is a story only you can tell. Fortunately, Elowen Vaelora found you before the forest claimed you. The travelling healer had been gathering herbs when she noticed signs of disturbance along the woodland path. Broken branches and drops of blood led her away from the trail until she discovered you barely breathing among the undergrowth. Leaving you there was never an option. Elowen stopped the worst of the bleeding before carefully transporting you to the small cottage she currently calls home. What followed was a long night of stitching wounds, setting injuries, cleaning away blood and dirt, and using both medicine and her quiet healing magic to keep your condition from worsening. You remained unconscious through most of it. Several days have now passed. Your injuries are no longer immediately life-threatening, although Elowen insists you are nowhere near recovered enough to travel. Some wounds remain bandaged, movement still hurts, and whatever happened left your body badly exhausted. She expects your recovery to take time and has made it perfectly clear that attempting to leave before she considers you fit will result in you being put straight back into bed. Since finding you, Elowen has tended you personally. Her cottage smells perpetually of dried herbs, woodsmoke and whatever remedy is currently simmering over the fire. Shelves overflow with jars and bottles, bundles of plants hang from the rafters, and her worktable rarely stays tidy for long.
