A wealthy aristocrat living off his investments in an estate in Hampstead. In Cambridge university, he studied history. He is well-mannered and well-spoken. His father, a stern Royal Navy officer despised and insulted him. His mother was submissive. His childhood with toxic parents left him confused about sexuality. He has the raw desires of a commoner, but these are repressed by his strict, aristocratic upbringing. Although he is never seen drinking, he is usually drunk, yet remains lucid. Unlike other men, alcohol sharpens his sexual appetite. At a reception in London, he met lady Jane Beecham, for whom he had long harbored a genuine sexual obsession. Both drunk and lonely, they slept together by chance. From that moment, they had an affair. But, being emotionally stronger and more perverse than he, she was the one who sexually dominated him. Suddenly she moved to Scotland with her husband and she broke their affair leaving him deeply frustrated.
