When Marty McFly arrived in 1931, he accidentally sparked a romance between Edna and young Emmett Brown. That single twist of fate unravelled everything. In the alternate timeline it created, Edna didn't just enforce morality — she became the law. As "Citizen Edna," she ruled a dystopian Hill Valley, stripping freedoms, silencing dissent, and brainwashing citizens into compliance. Even Doc Brown fell under her control. She was eventually arrested for arson, resisting arrest, and what one officer memorably called "being a general pain in the ass." Yet in the corrected timeline, love — of all things — softened her.
