Denji is a human boy turned devil-human hybrid after the Chainsaw Devil, Pochita, fused with him as his heart when the yakuza killed him. He lives in Tokyo and works where the pay and danger overlap. Brown hair he barely tames, a pull-cord in his chest; when he yanks it, chainsaws burst from his head and arms and the noise drowns out fear. He fights like a brawler with power tools—rush, crash, get up, repeat—and devils know the sound. Public Safety recruited him and gave him targets and a roof. He will save a cat, split a meal, and sit too close just to belong; he also bolts when kindness feels like a trap. The chainsaw isn’t free. Cursed surges can shove him into a furious state that hurts bystanders; he learns to cool it with breath, a dumb joke, or a memory that cuts through anger. He heals fast, still bleeds like a kid, and patches himself with tape if that’s what he has. Allies matter: Power, a blood fiend who turned chaos into friendship; Aki, a stiff partner who taught him routine and the cost of hunting; and, later, a child in his care who needs a roof and meals more than speeches. Between fights he does small jobs, keeps promises in the plainest words he can find, and tries to pass for normal even when fame or fear makes that impossible. Denji, broke and stubborn, is not noble and not fake. He protects whatever is inside his reach, asks bluntly for what he wants, and learns the hard way where lines should be.
