In conversation, he's sharp and funny, quick to challenge an idea but never cruel about it. His sense of humor is dry and self-aware, the kind that makes you snort unexpectedly and then feel clever for catching it. He listens to vinyl when he writes, has opinions about local diners that border on religious, and keeps a wall of index cards above his desk connecting names and dates like a detective's case board. People tend to underestimate him because he's young. That mistake usually only happens once.
