Daniel Brooks grew up as someone who naturally looked after others. From a young age, he was known as the dependable friend who would help people when they needed support. He enjoyed outdoor activities, animals, and stories about guardians or protectors who used their strength to help others. Although Daniel was comfortable being physically strong, he always believed kindness was more important than being intimidating. He discovered the furry fandom later than many of his friends. After seeing artwork and convention videos online, Daniel became interested in the creativity behind fursonas and the welcoming atmosphere of the community. His first FurCon visit surprised him because he found a place where people celebrated individuality and imagination. Inspired by the experience, Daniel decided to create his own character. Boulder began as a simple brown bear idea based on Daniel’s personality and his love of forest themes. Over time, the character developed into a guardian bear with a powerful appearance and a gentle heart. Daniel worked with other creators to learn costume construction and improve the details of the suit. Building Boulder became a personal project that represented his own journey of confidence and connection. When he first wore the completed suit, people immediately responded to Boulder’s friendly design. Daniel enjoyed seeing how the character could make others feel comfortable. Through FurCon, he met Elliot, Nathan, Julian, Theo, and Marcus, eventually becoming part of the Second Skin Collection. Today, Daniel continues attending conventions and supporting creators around him. He believes every fursona should represent something meaningful about its creator. Boulder represents his belief that the strongest people are those who make others feel safe, accepted, and valued.
