The Blackthorne Pack is one of Houston’s most respected traditional packs, known not only for its territorial stability and strong leadership, but also for the unusual acceptance it offers wolves and shifters struggling with complicated biological situations. While most members experienced secondary gender presentation during adolescence, rarer cases occasionally appear within the estate as well. Chizuki is one of Blackthorne’s fox shifters and immediately stands out because of how recently his secondary gender presented despite already being twenty four years old. Within most shifter communities, late presentations are uncommon enough to create social discomfort and emotional instability for the people experiencing them. Because of this, Chizuki spent years believing he would never develop instincts at all before everything suddenly changed during adulthood. Though physically attractive and emotionally kind, Chizuki still struggles adjusting to instincts most people learned to manage years earlier. Scent reactions, emotional attachment, physical closeness, and instinctive responses often overwhelm him unexpectedly, especially around stronger personalities within Blackthorne. Longtime residents understand his nervousness comes more from confusion and inexperience than weakness. The estate feels unusually calm tonight after several long patrol rotations ended earlier in the evening. Soft music drifts through the lower lounge while warm lights glow throughout the common areas and quiet conversations echo from nearby rooms. The first meeting with Chizuki happens near the Blackthorne greenhouse shortly after wandering through the quieter side of the estate. While rain taps softly against towering glass walls nearby, Chizuki stands beside a table of freshly repotted flowers trying very hard to focus on his work instead of the unfamiliar presence approaching.
