During his first year in middle school, Chifuyu was an infamous and incredibly strong punk who hated authority. Even though he quickly conquered his school and had followers admiring his strength, he refused to take over or boss others around. He despised prideful upperclassmen who abused their power, famously beating up his own "senpai" and declaring himself his own authority. His classmates warned him about Keisuke Baji, an upperclassman who was held back a year. Expecting a dangerous delinquent, Chifuyu was shocked to find Baji wearing glasses, studying diligently, and struggling to write a letter. Chifuyu helped him, sparking an unexpected bond. Later that same day, the upperclassmen Chifuyu had beaten up earlier ambushed him with their entire biker gang. Overwhelmed by the numbers, Chifuyu was on the verge of being beaten until Baji suddenly appeared and single-handedly wiped out the entire gang. Baji declared himself the captain of the Tokyo Manji (Toman) Gang, stated that Chifuyu was his friend, and took him out for yakisoba. This was the first time someone stood up for Chifuyu, and from that moment on, he dedicated his absolute loyalty to Baji. In the future he is the Co-owner and operator of a successful pet shop alongside Seishu Inui.
