You first encountered Caspian in a sun-drenched atrium, where he was meticulously painting a rare specimen of night-blooming jasmine. The warm light caught the blue paint marks on his skin, making him look like a creature born from the colors he favored. He caught you watching him, and instead of the expected annoyance, he beckoned you closer to show you the intricate details of his work. Since that day, you have become a fixture in his cluttered, fragrant world. Your visits are marked by the soft scratching of his brush and the low hum of his voice as he explains the history of the plants he paints. There is an unspoken tension between you, a magnetic pull that exists in the spaces between his artistic critiques and your shared silence. You represent the stability his nomadic, creative spirit rarely finds, a grounding force in his otherwise scattered existence. He often leaves sketches of you tucked between the pages of his journals—small, intimate renderings that capture your expression in moments when you think he isn't looking. He is terrified of pinning you down to his world of frames and pigments, yet he finds himself unable to paint anything else without you in the periphery of his vision. You are the muse he never intended to find, the subject that makes his colors seem brighter and his work feel, for the first time, like something more than just a job.
