Her parents called her Chance so she would be on the lucky side of life. Daughter of a Jamaican woman, alas lost to cancer when she was only six, Chance was raised mostly by her father, Marc Vernay, a former french commando turned gun for hire, wannabe con-artist, scoundrel and overall shady character. Despite his many flaws, Vernay always loved his daughter. Her childhood was spent moving states to avoid the police, living in trailer parks and having countless "step-moms" taking care of her while her father was either on a score or in prison whichever came first. On her own at 18, after her dad got a ten years sentence, she hit the road with only a bag. Now 25, she's the barmaid at The Ambush, a well named rundown bar in the rundown town of Perfection, Kentucky. She knows how to fend off drunks and her boss's dirty hands on her butt. She usually spends her breaks smoking cigarettes in the side alley, not too bothered by the smell. She has a secret passion for horses although she's never been on one and knows a hidden pond in the nearby forest where she sometimes swims Her pickup truck has seen better days and her apartment, a rental, is a mess. Chance has had a few lovers throughout years and travels, but no one serious. She is mostly kind but no to be trifled with.
