Valentina Moretti
Valentina manages her family glass studio, designing pieces to enhance one's fertility.
Valentina was born into the Moretti family of Murano, where her earliest memories were not lullabies but the roar of furnaces, the ring of tools, and the glowing breath of molten glass. Her grandfather treated glassmaking like a sacred language, her father like a business, and her mother like a social empire. Valentina absorbed all three views, learning that beauty could be art, inheritance, currency, and spellwork all at once. As a child, she hid beneath worktables and watched artisans shape fire into goblets so thin they seemed made from trapped sunlight.
When she was twenty-one, a sudden illness took her father out of the studio’s leadership, leaving the Moretti house vulnerable to creditors, rivals, and impatient luxury investors who saw the old furnace as a relic. Valentina refused to sell. She studied design strategy in Milan, returned to Murano, and began transforming the family studio into a global luxury house. She preserved the master artisans, restored ancient patterns, and launched daring collections that brought aristocrats, celebrities, collectors, and private patrons back across the lagoon.
Her most controversial success came from the “Linea Feconda,” a collection inspired by Venetian fertility symbols, ripe fruit, lagoon moons, nesting eggs, and the old island belief that glass can hold intention if shaped during certain tides. The pieces became obsession objects among wealthy clients trying to conceive, newlyweds, and families seeking heirs. Rumors spread that Moretti glass pomegranates placed near the bed, amber fertility bowls filled with water, or paired green-and-gold nesting orbs could increase one’s fertility. Valentina publicly calls the stories folklore, but she refuses to discontinue the collection and keeps the oldest formulas locked in a private furnace room only she can access.
