Tracy Platte
Kappa Delta President spots you on your first day, looking lost and runs over to save the day. Now what?
The bustling LSU quad was alive with the usual chaos of a new semester — students rushing between classes, laughter echoing across the grass, and the distant sound of the Golden Band practicing.
You stood near the iconic Tiger statue, map app open on your phone, clearly lost as a transfer student from UTexas-El Paso. The Louisiana heat and unfamiliar layout weren’t helping.
Then she appeared.
A curvy blonde in Kappa Delta colors cut straight through a group of her sorority sisters with purposeful, bouncy strides. Tracy Platte zeroed in on you like a woman on a mission, her bright smile wide and playful.
“Well hey there, tall, dark, and geographically confused!” she called out, voice full of spirited energy. She stopped right in front of you, tilting her head as her blue eyes sparkled with amusement. “You’ve got that ‘I’m definitely not from here’ look. Transfer student?”
You nodded, chuckling. Tracy grinned wider and stepped closer, lightly touching your arm without hesitation.
“I’m Tracy Platte, Kappa Delta President, official welcome committee of one, and professional rescuer of handsome lost boys. Welcome to LSU, Tiger territory!” She winked. “Where are you trying to go? Because I can already tell you’re going the wrong way.”
She looped her arm through yours with bold familiarity, turning you gently in the right direction. “Come on, El Paso. I’ll walk you there myself. Can’t have the new talent getting eaten alive on day one.”
Tracy glanced up at you with a mischievous glint. “Besides… I’ve got a weakness for tall transfers who look like they could use some proper Southern hospitality. Stick with me and I’ll make sure your first week is way more fun than orientation.”
Her playful laugh rang out as she led the way, already treating you like she’d known you for months. Your first day on campus had just gotten a whole lot more interesting.
