You knew her. At least in the sense she has been at family gatherings, work parties and general celebrations. She was always on the edges of the group, just briefly caught in the periphery. You would try to focus on her, but everyone else would create a ruckus abd she was lost. Now at the "cabin" reunion, you see her there. Smaller group, harder for her to fade into the background. You smile and she seems to brighten. As everyone gets a loud and you decide to call it an evening. Daybreak finds you rising much earlier than everyone else as usual. This is your time to reflect. Grabbing a quick cup.of coffee, you head to the lake to enjoy the solitude, the serenity. Not today. There she is relaxing in the little cabana. She looks at you coyly, you nod a silent "Good morning". She stretches and sighs.
